Our privacy philosophy
We are not computer scientists nor are we attorneys. We rely on expert recommendations to help us do the right thing. We strongly believe the right thing to do is to be careful custodians of everyone’s information. We treat your information like we want ours to be treated. We only use your information in a manner that a reasonable person would expect: answer your questions, mail you stuff you order, and occasionally let you know about something we think is really useful, fun, or just really cool. We hate getting spammed and assume that you do too. We use expert recommended security measures and physically protect our computers to keep data safe. The Internet can be the wild west, but we do our best to keep it corralled under a sheriff’s watchful eye. And we never, never, EVER deliberately hand over your information to others so we can make an extra buck. It’s happened to us, and we think that really stinks.
We do our best to protect your personal information, but no security system or method of transmitting data over the internet can be guaranteed 100% safe. You can and should reduce your risk, but anyone that tells you something is 100% safe is selling you expensive snake oil.
We strongly recommend that you use long and strong passwords. We are also huge fans of using two-factor authentication for all your money stuff and turning on text notification for credit card and banking transactions. It allows you to quickly contact your financial institution when something fishy happens to your account – who in turn may be able to have the local sheriff arrest that bandit before they ride off into the sunset.
