Been in the shop, building jigs to teach ukulele and steel string guitar building. It’s where it all starts. Done by hand, and by simple innovation.
.
1) & 2)… neck carving jig. Holds your neck blank securely so you can thrash the skin on your hands with rasps and files…
3) & 4)… simple alignment and glue up jig for Steel String bridges. Old drill bit help with alignment and when I remember to wax them they come out easily. Two set screws hold the wings down on the bridge to get a secure glue connection (don’t forget the little cauls) to the top!

Next on the bench!

Concert made from #californiasycamore . This tree was fell behind Palomar College, and milled in the urban lumber program. I was fortunate enough to get a nice slab of vertical grain and beautifully colored lumber.
This will be my sixth instrument out of this billet! Should be ready by spring time.

It’s been a while. I slowed down to catch up on some work around the house and shop.

I’m back at the desk now working hard to catch up on builds!

This guitar is an Orchestra Model. All #bigislandkoa with an #africanmohagany neck and #rosewood fretboard and bridge. All is ready for final fitting and neck installation!
